
Indigenous Gold and The U.S. Mint
In April of 2017 the U S Mint made available an oz. gold coin minted at West Point of an Indigenous American woman with a natural crown of coiled hair and adorned with gold stars.
One thousand were minted. On the reverse of the coin is a soaring eagle. It is referred as the “Black Lady” by some collectors, It is the new or latest imaging on coinage of lady liberty.
A companion Silver coin of the same design was released in October of that year. All this commemorating the 225th anniversary of the mint.
